How Burlington County sheriff sales work
Burlington County sheriff sales follow New Jersey's judicial foreclosure process. After a lender wins a final judgment in the Superior Court, the court issues a writ of execution and the Burlington County Sheriff advertises and auctions the property. The lender bids up to its upset price, and a third-party bidder has to beat that price to win.
Winning bidders generally pay 20% of the bid at the sale and the balance within about 30 days. Sales are often adjourned, objections can be filed for ten days afterward, and some liens survive the sale. Read our complete guide to New Jersey sheriff sales before you bid.
